Shearwater Cove is located in Resurrection Bay 10 miles from Seward and is only accessible by boat. All reservations include roundtrip boat tour transportation from Seward, oceanfront yurt lodging, and unlimited access to the best kayaking in Resurrection Bay.

Boat transportation is provided from the Seward harbor to Shearwater Cove aboard our exclusive water taxi tour. Once at the Cove, guests have unlimited access to our fleet of sea kayaks and to our network of trails.

Shearwater Cove is located in a world-class sea kayaking destination in Resurrection Bay, in the Kenai Fjords. From our yurts, guests can kayak to Fox Island and Humpy Cove in protected water while surrounded by wildlife and magnificent scenery.

Land & Water Acknowledgement

Shearwater Cove is located on land and water of the Qutekcak People (pronounced K’toochek). Seward, at the head of Resurrection Bay, is historically a Native ‘mixing’ area of Alutiiq and Sugpiaq People. This area served as a crossroads for those residing on Kodiak Island, the Alaska Peninsula, Cook Inlet/Kachemak Bay and the Gulf of Alaska, the islands of Prince William Sound, and on toward the upper Panhandle area of Southeast. 

We acknowledge this rich homeland where Alutiiq and Sugpiaq People have thrived for thousands of years. We respect this culture, language, and history, and strive to honor the People’s way of life as they practice subsistence, traditions, and teach their language in modern times. 

We are grateful to live in this beautiful land and are committed to honor the history and tradition of the Indigenous People of Alaska.
